Tony Hawk Ride (http://www.techtalkboards.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3171055) didn't receive a glowing reception, but Activision is still confident in the future of the peripheral and its associated series and plans to launch another game using it this year. During the company's Q4 Results call today, CEO Mike Griffith acknowledged the game's poor reviews (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/tonyhawkride?q=tony%20hawk%20ride), attributing them to timing issues. "It took longer to optimize the hardware, leaving less time to optimize the software," he said. The company is aiming for a sequel for late 2010, and plans to use this time to strengthen the software so it properly interfaces with the board. Griffith also hinted again that they're looking at other game possibilities for the Ride board.
We knew that Hawk himself is optimistic (http://www.techtalkboards.com/do/newsStory?cId=3177312) about the board, and the next project had already started (http://www.techtalkboards.com/do/newsStory?cId=3177686). It may seem a bit soon for the sequel, but if software was at fault for the control problems we may see some improvement with the added development time. Besides, with expectations set this low (http://www.techtalkboards.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3177198&p=37&sec=REVIEWS), there's no where to go but up.
